Popular
Smithsonian tour guide and author Ted Alexander specializes in a wide
range of historical topics. Among them are the Civil War, the French
and Indian War, and the cultural history of Maryland and Pennsylvania.
His knowledge of the mid-Atlantic area enables him to take participants
to many sites which are off-the-beaten-path. Past tours include The
Confederate Army on the Road to Gettysburg, Civil War Sites on the Upper
Potomac, Famous Confederate Cavalry Raids, and The Burning of Chambersburg.
Ted is chief historian at Antietam National Battlefield
Park, and author of several books which focus on Civil War Maryland and
Pennsylvania. These titles include, Remember Chambersburg!, about the
burning of that city, and most recently, Too Afraid to Cry: Maryland Civilians
in the Antietam Campaign.
